On Dec 13th 2016, the African Award Panel on Mivasocial, the African Social Network awarded Pete Edochie the African Person of the day award.

Pete Edochie is considered one of Africa’s most talented actors. He hails  from the Igbo people in Nigeria and is a Roman Catholic. The great actor became a household name in Nigerian in  the 1980s when he played the lead role of Okonkwo in an NTA adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s all-time best selling novel, Things Fall Apart.pete-edochie-african-person-of-the-day

Pete Edochie is popularly referred to as the Lion of Africa. He started as a radio broadcaster in 1967 at the age of 20 but later switched to acting. In 2009 Edochie was kidnapped and later released by his captors unharmed. He has played in more than 70 acclaimed movies such as Miserable Wealth, Egg of life, Evil men, Oduduwa and many more. He is married to Josephine Edochie and has 2 kids Yul Edochie and Linc Edochie.
